Perfect Season: NBA Draft Game
Roll a random NBA team and decade, draft one player from that roster, and do it five times. Then we play all 82 games and the playoffs. Can your five go 82-0?
Perfect Season: The NBA Era Draft Game
Perfect Season is a free NBA draft game you play in your browser. Every pick starts with a roll that lands on a random franchise and decade: the 1980s Lakers, the 2000s Spurs, the 1970s Knicks, the 2020s Thunder and every other era of all 30 franchises, 169 team eras in all. You take one player from that roster, fill your starting five one position at a time, and then your team plays a full 82-game season and the playoffs against teams from across NBA history.
The goal is simple and almost impossible: go 82-0. Most smart drafts finish somewhere between 60 and 75 wins. A perfect season needs a great draft and a little luck on the court.
How to Play
- Roll a team era: each round shows one franchise and one decade. Team names follow the history of each franchise, so the Seattle SuperSonics years belong to the Thunder and the Buffalo Braves years belong to the Clippers.
- Draft one player: choose any player on that roster who fits an open slot. Some players can play two positions, so think about which slot to use.
- Use your reroll wisely: you get one reroll per draft to skip a roster you don't like.
- Fill all five slots: once you have a point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center, the season starts.
- Play the season: every game is simulated against a real team era, then the top teams play four best-of-seven playoff rounds.
Daily Draft and Challenges
In the Daily Draft, everyone gets the same sequence of rolls for the day, so you can compare your record with friends. Your first daily result is your official one. After any draft you can copy a challenge link: your friend gets exactly the same rolls, drafts their own five, and the game shows both records side by side and plays a best-of-seven series between your two teams.
How Players Are Rated
Each player has a rating for the years they spent with that franchise in that decade, so the same player can be rated differently on different teams. Ratings are our own scores from 70 to 99 that reflect how good a player was in that stint, not official NBA numbers. The season simulation compares your team with each opponent, so a team full of 90+ players will win most nights, but nobody is safe from an upset.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Perfect Season free?
Yes. There is nothing to download and no account to make. It works on phones, tablets and computers.
Has anyone gone 82-0?
It can happen, but it is rare. You need a team rating in the mid 90s or higher and a clean run of games. Your best record and every perfect season you hit are saved on your device.
Why can't I pick the same player twice?
Each player can only be on your team once, even if he shows up again with another team or in another decade.
Which teams and decades are included?
All 30 current franchises, from the 1960s to the 2020s, using the years each franchise actually played in the NBA. A season counts in the decade it ended, so 1979-80 counts as the 1980s.
